Dimple Abichandani is a nationally recognized philanthropic leader, writer, and lawyer, and author of a forthcoming book, A New Era of Philanthropy: Ten Practices to Transform Wealth Into a More Just Future, that offers fresh answers to the question of how philanthropy can meet this moment. A lifelong student of social change, Dimple has spent the last two decades advancing justice by working to transform the collective purpose and practices of philanthropy.

As Executive Director of General Service Foundation from 2015-2022, Dimple led efforts to align the foundation’s grantmaking, investments and governance with justice values. She was the founding director of the Rise Together Fund, a donor collaborative at the Proteus Fund, and served as Executive Director of the Center for Social Justice at UC Berkeley School of Law. A National Center for Family Philanthropy Fellow, her significant contributions to the field of philanthropy have been recognized with a Scrivener Award for Creativity Grantmaking. Dimple serves on the Board of Directors of Solidaire Network, and the Steering Committee of the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project. Dimple lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she advises donors and funders on how to transform wealth into a more just future.
